Mainz is a city located in Germany, to the left side of the Rhine River. It is a one of the major wine producing cities in Germany and has been the center of wine production ever since the Roman times. The Mainzer wine Market is one of the largest wine fairs that take place in Germany and it attracts wine lovers from all parts of the world. Mainz is also famous for the Carnival festival that has been celebrated here from the 19th century. - Electoral Palace: This had been the former residence of the Archbishop of Mainz. Considered to be the most beautiful building that is reminiscent of renaissance Germany, UNESCO has marked this palace in its list of “monuments of cultural heritage”
- There are also remnants of ancient roman civilization scattered throughout the city. The Jupiter’s columns, Drusus’ mausoleum, the ruins of old theatres are very interesting to explore.
