About the Lake: The Maschsee Lake also known, as the Machine Lake is an artificially made body of water. The lake is about 2.4 kilometers long and is a beautiful sight. The local people find the lake and its surrounding area a soothing recreational area. It is also one of the largest lakes in the state capital of Lower Saxony.


Features of the Maschsee Lake:

  • The lake was originally built in order to reduce the risk of flood. However, in the present day, the lake primarily serves as a recreational venue and attracts an innumerable number of tourists and also native people. There are various rudder boats and luxury ships that can be used for having a good ride on the pretty lake. Summer is the perfect time to take a boat trip on the Maschsee Lake. The romantic ambience, the beautiful scenery, the limpid waters will all contribute to make your leisure hours a complete success!

  • There is also a bathing beach on the southern side of the Maschsee Lake. However, the beach would probably be converted into a commercial Wellness Park.

  • There is also a splendid cycle track all around the Maschsee Lake. People also use the track for inland skating. The remains thronged with sport loving people all through the year, in all weather conditions.

  • Several boating competitions also take place on the Maschsee Lake. This lake is the venue for the annual European Kite Boat Running. Also there is the Machine-Seaworthy, an annual festival that takes place in the summer. It is the largest public gathering in Northern Germany and the lake promenades are thronged with people in colorful attires. Live music is played and there are various shops set up for the exhibition of local art and craft products. Firecrackers are burnt and everywhere around the lake, there is a mood of revelry.

  • The New City Hall and the Machine Park are also close to the lake and if you have some extra time in your hands, you can visit them as well.
