The Münchner Philharmoniker, Munich was founded in the year 1893 with James Levine as its music director. The orchestra calls the Gasteig Cultural Center as its home where the Philharmonic Hall as its performing stage. The centre is also the home for the Richard Strauss Conservatory and the Munich Municipal Library along with five performing halls. The season for the performances at the Philharmonic hall begins in the mid-September and continues till July.
The Münchner Philharmoniker, Munich is considered as one of the major
orchestras of the city; in fact among the best three but it is also the least
recorded of all the orchestras which shares the highest level of excellence
with its performances, facilities and above all the audience. After all it is
applauds that an artist want.
