Munchner Stadtlauf, Munich (July)

The traditional "Münchner Stadtlauf" (city run) has been celebrated for more than 25 years. Thousands of people take part and make it a truly festive event. Runners can choose between a half marathon or a 10k run. The city run is usually on in July and is organised by the Munich newspaper "Abendzeitung" and the sports shop "Sportscheck".

The event usually starts from late Jun/early July, throughout the city, and is organised every year.

The race is a smooth run, you don’t need to wait in huge lines or get caught in crowds. Electronic chips are used to track the exact time as is done in all the big races now a days, and as soon as you finish you give your chip to the authorities and with the help of the computer; they scans it, and immediately prints out a result and time card for you.

There are other sports events in Munich like:

Medienmarathon: A couple of years ago a second major runners' event started in Munich, the "Medienmarathon" (media marathon). Munich media enterprises and the Stadtwerke München support this sports event.
