Established in 1812, this garden was originally located in the heart of the city. Later on it was refurbished and relocated to fringes of the city. The area outside the glasshouses consists of rare and fine species of plants which are brought from all over the world. The walkway from the main entrance which leads to the Glasshouses, also leads to the Schmuckhof. While walking along this picturesque path you will notice plush green lawns. Shrubs of rhododendron and ferns are also cultivated in a separate area. Among the plant species, the significant ones found here are oaks, hornbeams, houseleek and mountain avens.

Many interesting economic plants are grown in the Munich Botanischer Garten (Botanic Garden), Munich. A variety of cereals are cultivated in a separate area. Asparagus, pumpkins and gherkins are grown in abundance in this garden. Many herbal plants of medicinal qualities are also grown in this garden. The south-eastern part of this garden comprises of the order beds. It is in this area where you will find few Magnolia trees as well.
