Sightseeing in Trier

Germany - Cologne - Dusseldorf - Frankfurt - Munich - Stuttgart - Hamburg - Berlin
Welcome to the Sightseeing in Trier. This beautiful city in Germany attracts thousands of tourists every year. The most interesting act about this city is its endearing way of living very much in the present and of putting its ancient monuments to current use.

There are number of places for sightseeing in Trier. Constantine's throne hall and the Aula Palatina are two important Lutheran churches here. The hall dates back to AD 310. In the 17th century, the Aula Palatina was desegregated into the newly-built palace and its eastern wall was partly destroyed. Situated in front of the Aula is the "Kurfürstliches Schloss". It is charecterised by its typical pink baroque façade. Johannes Seiz designed the present palace in 1756-1762 for Johann Philipp von Waldersdorff. The central Typanum depicts the Pomona, Venus, Apollo and a group of angels. The Amphitheater houses rock and pop festivals. The Dreikönigshaus harbors the city's best cafe and pastry shop. The Porta Nigra is, of course, the most impressive monument of Trier. It is the best-preserved of all Roman city gates worldwide. You must visit the historic Glockenstrasse, the painstakingly restored Krahnenstrasse, or the Zurlauben water front.

Trier boasts of 94 churches and chapels. St. Antonius (13th century), Jesuit Church (Jesuitenkirche, 13th century), St. Irminen (18th century) are some of the important and most frequented churches here. You can also drop into the wine regions of Trier. Located in the heart of the Moselle-Saar-Ruwer wine district, it is virtually synonymous with the light dry whites of that region. In the Olewig district, southeast of the Amphitheater, numerous vintners offer wine-tasting feasts with hearty stick-to-the- ribs food. So just taste the wines. You will certainly love it.

Sightseeing in Trier offers some of the interesting and amazing monuments, architecture and artifacts in the world. You will surely love them all.
