The central Jubilaeumssaule, a great towering monument erected to celebrate the 25th anniversary of King Wilhem I of Wurttemburg's accession to the throne, is flanked by two fountains. On one side are the modern department stores and the office buildings, while on the other side is the castle. Besides, some buildings dating back to the 1960s lie around the fountains.

east into the Oberer Schlossgarten, north onto Konigstrasse, or south to the
Altes Schloss and the Stiftskirche. You can also pay a visit to the Kunstgebaude
(House of Art), which fronts onto Schlossplatz.
