Horseracing is the most popular form of sporting entertainment in Hong Kong. Horse Races are held on most Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons. It is a must itinerary for overseas visitors. Come and experience it yourself, you shouldn't miss it during your time in Hong Kong. There are two racetracks for Horse Racing in Hong Kong, one in Happy Valley and the other in Sha Tin. The horses are all imported. Jockeys from around the world come to Hong Kong to take part in the races. In Hong Kong, all gambling on horse racing is administered by the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC). There are no (legal) bookmakers or fixed odds bets. All wagers are transferred to a single pari-mutuel pool and dividends are calculated by the totaliser that determines the starting price in the usual fashion by first removing the 'house cut', and then allocating the distribution of the balance in the kitty to punters holding winning tickets. Visitors are advised not to use flash when taking photographs of horses at the racecourses. Mobile phone is strictly prohibited in the racecourses
