Hong Kong has its share of picturesque mountains and hillsides that await rock climbing enthusiasts. Two choices of either indoor or outdoor climbing gyms are available. Enthusiasts can call the Hong Kong Mountaineering Union at 2504 8124 for more details. Approximately 40 percent of Hong Kong is made into 23 country parks, many of which are threaded with well-marked trails. The perfect therapy for city blues would be to move out of the hustle and bustle of city life and enjoy amidst nature. You can go rock climbing or choose any other sport you like. The walk around The Peak on Harlech and Lugard roads offers spectacular views of the harbor, Aberdeen, and the outlying islands. This 3.5km stroll takes about 45 minutes to complete. Lantau Trail, on the other hand, is a 70km path that displays Hong Kong's rugged landscape and some superb views. The trail is divided into 12 stages, with Stage 4 starting near the Big Buddha and Po Lin Monastery. Visitors can call the HKTA Visitor Hotline (2508 1234) for additional information or view the HKTA free Five Walks brochure.
