The city of Hong Kong celebrates not only cultural festivals, it also organizes sports events which relate to the city's prestige and glory. The Hong Kong Rugby Sevens is one such event that is observed with great pomp and show. Being the biggest and most eminent sporting event in Hong Kong, this day is dedicated entirely to the sportsperson and sports lover. The event lasts for three days and takes place in the Hong Kong Stadium. 24 teams from all over the world participate in this esteemed sport event. They are classified into 6 pools of 4 teams each. On the first day of Hong Kong Rugby Sevens every team plays one game in their pool. On the second day, each team plays two more games to round off the Round-robin pool competition. The group winners and two teams holding the second position then move ahead for the Cup Competition. The four-second placed and four third placed teams that are left behind, then head towards the Plate Competition. The rest of the teams compete in the Bowl Competition. The third and final day witnesses the quarterfinals, semi-finals and finals of all the three competitions. There is a huge crowd who gather to watch Hong Kong Rugby Sevens that is now a popular event. Owing to its popularity, the tickets are sold out months before the main event. The presence of food stalls and beer stalls makes it easier for the crowd to chill out over some light refreshments and drinks, and thereby enabling them to experience a gala time. The people dressing up in different stylish costumes and masks, with paints on some faces, render the stadium a very bright and colorful look.
