The Hong Kong Heritage Museum is one of the most famous museums in Hong Kong, China. The museum is located in Sha Tin, Hong Kong and it shares its border with the Shing Mun River. The Hong Kong Heritage Museum is not only a museum but it also bears Hong Kong's cultural and traditional significance. The Regional Council of Hong Kong established this Hong Kong Heritage Museum and it was officially inaugurated on 16th December in the year 2000. However, gradually it came under the preservation of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of the Government of Hong Kong, which also takes care of another 12 museums in the city of Hong Kong. However, the Hong Kong Heritage Museum claims to be the largest among all of them.

The Hong Kong Architectural Services Department designed the Hong Kong Heritage Museum and the main idea behind it was to organize various exhibitions regarding history, art and culture of Hong Kong. Not only exhibitions, but also various kinds of interactive and comprehensive programs are organized in this Hong Kong Heritage Museum. These exhibitions and programs are not only a great source of entertainment but they also serve educational purposes to the visitors.

The museum houses six permanent galleries for exhibiting the huge collections of the museum. Besides that there are six thematic galleries also that holds the short-term exhibitions of the Hong Kong Heritage Museum. Some the permanent galleries are New Territories Heritage Hall, Children's Discovery Gallery, Cantonese Opera Heritage Hall, T.T.Tsui Gallery of Chinese Art, Chao Shao-an Gallery etc. The >Hong Kong Heritage Museum also has a section that holds a theatre for the purpose of organizing different types of performing arts. All these exhibitions and programs reflect the culture and tradition of China.
