Good luck will prevail throughout the year if you rotate the sails of the copper windmill inside the Che Kung Temple, Hong Kong. This is an old practice that the local people have been carrying on since ages. On the third of January as per the Lunar Calendar, on the birthday of the Che Kung, the inhabitants of the town gather to worship him, with burning incense sticks. After this they rotate the sails of the windmill and pray for good luck. Almost three hundred years ago, in the late Ming dynasty, people of the Sha Tin District were affected by plague. Che Kung was the general when the Song Dynasty was in power. Due to his contributions, he was widely admired and respected by the people of the dynasty. To save the town from the epidemic of plague people carried tablets with Che Kung's name carved on it and paraded around the district. The disease was soon gone and it strengthened their belief in Che Kung and started worshipping him. The famous Che Kung Temple, Hong Kong was built after his name soon after this.
