More than 70,000 passengers a day and 26 million a year are carried across four routes, by a fleet of 12 ferries that operate for the Star Ferry, Hong Kong. The upper deck costs 30 US cents and the lower deck is even cheaper. During the early years of the ferry service, it charged five cents per person. From Monday to Friday ferries can be hired from 11 am to 3:30 pm & 8:45 pm to 10:45 pm.
For weekends and every other public holiday ferries can be hired from 9 am to 2 pm & 3:15 pm to 10:45 pm.
The ferry has to be hired for a minimum period of 2 hours with a deposit of 30% in advance.
