The imperial city of Fatehpur Sikri lies to the south west orf Agra. The Fatehpur Sikri is one of India's most alluring and breathtaking monuments built by the Mughal Emperor Akbar. The city is indeed one of a kind. . Every building, pavement, and courtyard in the complex is completely covered in red sandstone. It has a wonderful sense of space and freedom; a perfect combination of intricate workmanship and architecture on a monumental scale. Fatehpur Sikri is the best example of the culmination of Hindu and Muslim architecture. The Mosque is said to be a copy of the mosque in Mecca and has designs, derived from the Persian & Hindu architecture. Besides the Panch Mahal, Fatehpur Sikri boasts of a number of other attractions. The Treasury or Ankh Michauli, once believed to have been used for playing the game, comprises of three rooms each protected by a narrow corridor which were manned by guards. Another major attraction is the Diwan-I-Am or the Hall Of Public Audience from where the journey to the royal palace begins. The hall was used for public prayers and celebrations. It has cloisters on three sides of a rectangular courtyard and the Emperor's throne to the West. The Hawa Mahal or the Palace of Winds lies to the right of the Jodha Bai's palace and is a small-screened wind tower attached to the palace and faces the garden. The garden is laid out in the Char Bagh style with straight walls intersecting at right angles and divided by shallow channels.
