The second amusement project from the V-Guard group (builder of the famous Veegaland park of Cochin), estimated cost of this Wonderla Holidays Pvt. Ltd. ran to Rs 77 crores in the first phase itself. Built 30 kms from Bangalore on the Mysore Highway near a place called Bidadi, the place was opened to public from October 2005. The 80 meter high sky-wheel building is the first thing you will notice on entering the Wonder La at Bangalore.
The scopes of amusement in the park are mind boggling. Wonder La, Bangalore offers all kinds of rides from the new very thrilling ones to fun rides for kids. Aside from the usual wooden water chute, there are a lot of pipes of different heights and curves to slide through. For the solitude seeking ones, air boats are there to lie and laze in a pool.
A major attraction of Wonder La, Bangalore is a frightening almost vertical drop into water. Wave pools, with machines creating artificial waves, give the sensation of sea bathing.
Land rides are there with hints for extreme thrill. The Drop Zone takes people to a certain height, drops them, catches them and repeats the process. The Hurricane is a windmill model where riders are rotated at speed in all possible ways, clockwise, anticlockwise to upside down. These are only to name a few.
Other attractions are the Virtual Reality Theatre, Indoor Musical Fountain and Laser show, a Giant wheel on a 300-meter platform and many others. The Virtual Reality show takes viewers on a simulated ride through a mine in an auditorium, where the degree of realism is unexpected.
