Habba in Kannada means festival. It takes place annually. The last Bangalore Habba was celebrated last year from December 3rd to the 10th. Bangalore Habba will be organized this year on a much larger scale to mark the Suvarna Karnataka. More than 2750 artistes from Karnataka alone and over 250 artistes throughout India will participate in the Bangalore Habba this year.

The main purpose of the Habba is to create awareness about different forms of art. This program will include many towns in Karnataka like Dharwad, Chikamangaluru, Mangalore, Tumkur and Mandya.

The partner of the Bangalore habba includes Karnataka Nataka Academy, Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce and Kathalaya. The Pantaloons Group is one of the patrons of the Bangalore Habba. The performances will include music, dance, film panorama, street theatre, adventure sports, golf tournament, tennis ball cricket tournament, pulling race and vintage car rally. It is estimated that the street plays will be performed around 75 junctions in Bangalore. One interesting attraction in the youth festival will be Resonance- a program whose sole purpose will be to bridge the gulf between the youth and the old.

In the present times, it has become absolutely essential to incorporate more people into the field of artistic sensibility. The Bangalore Habba is increasingly making an impact on the cultural life of the people of Bangalore. Involvement of the youth has become an important goal of the Bangalore Habba. The target audience is usually the middle class. There is also a noble motive attached to the Bangalore Habba. It is to help the Kannadigas to survive and make them feel proud of their culture and tradition. Apart from modernizing art, the Bangalore Habba also aims at promoting arts.

Being an audience of the Bangalore Habba would definitely be a nice experience. On the whole, it reflects the spirit of the Indian tradition.
