The Karnataka folk museum, Bangalore, which is also known as the Janapada Loka is, situated about 53 kms from the city of Bangalore on the famous Bangalore-Mysore highway. This museum is hardly 3 kms away from Ramanagaram.the museum tries to beautifully cover different aspects of Karnataka's diverse folk life. In this museum you will find folk music and videotapes of folk dances of Karnataka. Beautiful artifacts and costumes are also featured in this small museum, which has varieties of trees in its surroundings. The artifacts are kept in three buildings namely Lokamahal, Lokamatha Mandira and Chitrakuteera. In Lokamahal the visitors can find interesting folk puppets, utensils, instruments, weapons and masks. In Lokamatha Mandira a wide variety of, baskets, utensils and earthen jars, which were used to store, grain and pickles are also featured. In the Chitrakuteera a number of photographs covering different aspects of folk life is displayed out here.
The other attraction of the Karnataka Folk museum, Bangalore is a huge elegantly carved temple chariot. You can find many historic ancient carvings in this museum, which were made of various types of stone. The museum also has an amazing amphitheatre. There is a recording studio. Moreover a college on folk life of Karnataka is also situated here.
There is a lake at the rear end of the museum where you can find pedal boat. Children love to visit this area. You can find greeneries all around the museum.
