Elliot's Beach is located near Besant Nagar. Covelong's Beach is located on the way to Mahabalipuram. Places of Interest: Marina Beach is called the Pride of Chennai. It is the second longest beach in the world with a length of 4.5 kms. It has a wide sandy foreshore. There are icons of heroes from Tamil culture and samadhis of great leaders. Crispy sundal and murukku are available here. There is also an aquarium. Watching sunset and sunrise is an enthralling experience. Elliot's Beach exists to the south of the Marina beach. This is a relatively quiet beach and a very right place to enjoy sea bathing. The Velankanni church and Ashtalakshimi temple are built at the end of this beach. Good roads, pavements, illuminated sands make this beach very enjoyable. It is also called as a night beach for Chennai youth. Covelong Beach is a luxury beach resort. This is differentiated from the mainland by a canal flowing from Chennai to Mahabalipuram. Taj Group of Hotels manages the Fisherman's Cove Resort with rooms in the main buildings and cottages and the sandy beach here. Shopping: In and around Chennai beaches, there exists the best shopping facilities in South India. There are exhilarating jewelry shops, craft shops, retail malls and sari showrooms. There are various shopping malls. The most famous one is the Spencer Plaza on the Mount Road. There are more than 100 shops and outlets, which sell electronic goods, cloth merchandise, music, sports showrooms and currency exchange outlets. Shoppers Stop and Chennai Citi Center are other famous retail stores in the city. The famous but over packed Pondy Bazaar and Ranganathan Street in T Nagar are a must visit one.
