Bodhgaya is one of the four holiest cities of Buddhist faith. Here Lord Buddha attained 'Bodhi'- spiritual enlightenment. This holy city, which was originally a part of the Uruvela village (presently Urail), is situated on the banks of the river Niranjana, Its geographical location is at 24o 41' 45'' N. Latitude and 85o 2' 22'' E. Longitude. There is the Falgu River on the east of this city. If we have a fair idea about the weather of Bodhgaya, we can go there & visit this city of rich cultural heritage in a soothing atmosphere. The city is within an area of 91.94 sq. km. Here in Bodhgaya we see tropical climate. And as in the tropical climatic region,the summers, i.e. ,between April & June, are generally hot while the winters (October-February) are cool. With the advent of southwestern monsoon the rainy season lasts from July till the end of September. The place, 14 km south of Gaya, being associated with Buddha, the father of Buddhism, draws a huge number of pilgrims from various parts of the world, throughout the year. Bodhgaya formed the part of the first small kingdoms of India in the 7th century BC. The average rainfall is nearabout 113 mm. Bodhgaya is the holiest among the holy places, the most important Buddhist pilgrimage destination in the world.
