Bodhgaya is believed to be one among the four holiest Buddhist Pilgrimages in India. If you are looking for a peaceful holiday Bodhgaya or Buddhagaya is just the place which is able to provide you that. Your tour to Bodhgaya must include Getting Around Bodhgaya (Bus, Taxi, Auto Rickshaw) as the place has several place to be watched with ample interests. In Bodhgaya there are Mahabodhi Temple and Bodhi Tree which has always been the center of interest of the tourists. Below the tree is a platform on which the footprints of Lord Buddha have been carved in stone; The Vajrasan near it is a slab of red sandstone which marks the place where he sat in meditation.

  -   By this Bodhi Tree there is the famous Mahabodhi Temple which was built by the Emperor Ashoke and the wall of nthe temple is decorated with the story of Lord Buddha's life. This Mahabodhi Temple is marked by a 52 meter tall spire and home to a large gilded statue of the Lord Buddha. A lotus pond is annexed with this Temple which is believed to be the pond where Lord Buddha performed his ablutions.

  -   Apart from these two there are lots of Buddhist Monasteries in Bodhgaya and your getting around Bodhgaya must not miss them. The Indosan Nipponji Japanese Temple houses a spectacular statue of Lord Buddha and the Thai Temple is marked for its gleaming gilded roofs and elegantly curved lines.

  -   Bodhgaya Archaeological Museum is identified for its splendid grand collection of Buddha statues, in terracotta and stone. Other artifacts like stone carvings, also figure in the museum's display. It will take at least one hour to speculate the whole Museum with a good guidance.

Getting around Bodhgaya:

  -   By Bus: Frequent Bus Service is available in Bodhgaya and for a trip you can take the Bus service from Patna and Gaya also.
  -   By Taxi: Taking a taxi to cover the whole region is not a bad idea, you can avail a taxi from Gaya Station also to reach Bodhgaya and for your sightseeing.
  -   By Auto-rickshaw: This is the most frequent service available in Bodhgaya and cheap in nature also. You can take an auto-rickshaw for a sightseeing package also.
