Chandigarh was formed after the Partition of India. This planned city was the initiative of then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and was designed by French architect and planner, Le Corbusier. Chandigarh is located in the fringes of the shivalik range of the Himalayas in Northwest India. Chandigarh spans over an area of 114 km2. It shares its borders with the states Haryana in south and Punjab in the north. The city has is situated 321 meters above sea level. The state Himachal Pradesh is very close to Chandigarh.
Chandigarh has a sub tropical continental monsoon climate with hot summers, cold winters, intermittent rainfall and large variation in temperature. The average rainfall is 617 mm. The maximum temperature in summer may rise up to 44oC. Winters are quite cool. Temperature may go down to 0oC. The climate remains quite pleasant during other seasons.

hotels. There are numerous tourist attractions in and around Chandigarh city.

Museum and Art Gallery, Museum of evolution of life, International Dolls Museum
are places worth visiting. Chandigarh has a number of places of worship which
are famous for its architecture. In short, Chandigarh is a marvelous city with
