Chandigarh is located in the fringes of the shivalik range of the Himalayas in Northwest India . Chandigarh spans over an area of 114 km 2 . It shares its borders with the states Haryana in south and Punjab in the north. The city has is situated 321 meters above sea level. The state Himachal Pradesh is also very close to Chandigarh .
Getting around Chandigarh is very much easy and comfortable. The traffic is far more organized than any other Indian city. There are a lot of options for traveling in the city.. Driving your own vehicle is the best option. Chandigarh is a vast city, which is best covered either in auto rickshaws, taxis or car. Private taxis are available at the bus terminus, railway station and airport. Rented cars are all chauffeur driven. Self- driven vehicles are not available. For shorter distance, cycle rickshaws are also available.

The city has an efficient bus service run by Chandigarh Transport Undertaking. The buses serve as the best mode of local transportation and inter- state traveling. There is a traffic park in Chandigarh , where classes and workshops are conducted to educate the people about traffic safety. You can also avail the service of auto rickshaws that usually shuttle to and from the inter state bus terminus.
