Koohni Sahib in Chandigarh, originally known as Bageecha Saheeb, is situated on Chandigarh-Mansa Devi Road. Though this shrine is not so popular, it has a unique history. Guru Gobind Singh stayed here for one week. Rumors have it that the Guru came here specially to meet Mata Raj Kaur, wife of Ram Rai. Mata Raj Kaur had left Dehradun in order to stay away from her husband who was offering support to the then Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. Since Guru Gobind Singh rested here on his elbow, this place is named Koohni (elbow) Sahib. On the death anniversary of the Guru and on 26th January every year devotees gather here on occasions of Jor Mela and the death anniversary of Sant Baba Mehar Singh.
