Features of Little Theatre in Chennai
- Conceived by Aysha Rau, Little Theatre was introduced in May 1991. The founder always emphasized on the importance of education system for the children, who would channelise their emotions and nurture their creative talents through knowledge. So she thought of workshops of dance, drama, art and craft, mime, music, poetry, puppetry, magic, photography that would be conducted by professionals.
- Initially for five years, The Alliance Francaise on College Road became the venue for the workshops then Little Theatre in Chennai acquired of spacious rooms at the Spastics Society of India building later re-named Vidya Sagar.
- There are nearly 75 children between the ages of 5 to 14 who are members of Little Theatre in Chennai.
- Little Theatre in Chennai also organizes workshops for underprivileged children at the Corporation Middle School. Even scholarships are offered to the brilliant but underprivileged children to follow further studies.
- Little Theatre in Chennai also has performed an orchestra and a choir, by incorporating the children of Vidya Sagar so that they can be brought to the main stream of life.
