Introduction:

Architecture of India:

Architecture of any country has been highly influenced by the overall topographical features of the country. Not only the topography but other factors like the history of the country, climate of the area, surroundings, native people, geographical conditions, availability of various building materials in the area also influence the architecture of the country. Architecture of India is not an exception to the same.

The legacy

The architecture of India has many facets due to the age old annexed states of Pakistan, present India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. These countries later on got separated by political boundaries but, still share a common cultural heritage. It was all because of the rule of the East India Company or in short the British. Though the English had their influence on most of the architectures it was mainly based on the age old concepts of Hindu and Muslim architectures or ideologies. Each of the cultures had a different outlook. The Hindu constructions had many human figures on it while Muslim architectures had more of design on its constructions. A great civilization is defined by its magnificence of architectural legacy. India is considered as the foremost among these. The architectures like the Taj Mahal and Qutub Minar as well as the various Hindu temples and monuments are still a state of art that cherishes the past and the history of our country along with the art that has been shown on these monuments. In a perfect world, we would all be traveling, exploring and writing for a living, seeing monuments, marveling at the ineffable genius of builders long dead, imagining our world in the age of kings, dreaming of empires long gone and their pomp and glory.

Constructions and carvings

The topography of any country influences the architecture in a way that the height, overall construction and the way of development changes according to the geographical conditions. The history influences the exterior as well as internal architecture of any construction, the carvings or drawings if any on the walls of these constructions. The climate in the area makes the architects use some different types of building materials that are available in plenty to be used for construction. The native people also play an important role in the architecture. The overall understanding of the people has to be considered while constructing any monument. There are various other factors that also influence the constructions. There are not many records on the architectures of India that have been put in use. There are very rare records of these constructions.
