Introduction: Languages of India: Language of any country is the basic dialect or the communication medium through which people residing in or even visiting that country use to interact with each other. There are various other dialects that mostly originate from the basic one. There are regional languages that get various ways and are developed over the years by the natives. There also exist some tribal languages which originate from the regional languages. The languages of India are a major influence of the past rulers and their reign. There are various other languages which were used during the rule of some rulers which have now become extinct. There are various other forms of languages that are usually developed from the basic ones, Hindi and Urdu being the basic of India. Various Indian Languages and their origin: The languages of India are varied similar to any other country. These languages are then used by many people with some modifications. Hindi being the basic and the national language is extensively and widely all over the country without any conflict. It is also called as the mother tongue of almost one-third of the people of India. Hindi became the national language due to the influence and rule of various dynasties like the Muslims and Portuguese. Urdu is also sometimes used by a minor group of people. Along with Hindi, other languages are also spoken which sum up to around 14 basic regional languages namely: Bengali, Telugu, Marathi, Tamil, Urdu, Gujarati, Malayalam, Kannada, Oriya, Punjabi, Assamese, Kashmiri, Sindhi, and Sanskrit. Hindustani is also a kind of language that is prominent in northern India but, yet not official. It is though developed from Hindi and Urdu. Modern Language: The most prominent language in India is English though this is only used for political, national and commercial communication only. The most of the languages that are used in India are limited due to lower literacy percentage. Around 60% of the total population of India is literate some of which not completed the basic primary education also. English has become a language that has been used in various fields these days due to modernization and globalization. Some of the languages that are still used are understood in the respective regions or states by the locals. Some of the regional languages are modified by natives to their general regular usage.
