Getting to Darjeeling in North Bengal India is easy with Bagdogra, the nearest airport lying just 100 km south of Darjeeling. Several flights regularly operate between Bagdogra and the major cities and metros of India. You can fly from any part of the world to Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore or Kolkata and then take a domestic flight to reach Bagdogra. It takes about a couple of hours from the airport to reach the beautiful hill top at Darjeeling.


Getting to Darjeeling by Road:

As neither the rail nor the airways will directly take you to this famous and popular hill station, you need to take the road from Siliguri or New Jalpaiguri to be at Darjeeling. Buses and local taxis leave Siliguri every 30 minutes for Darjeeling. Since the drive from the plains to the mountains, passing the rippling creeks and the fresh green tea gardens and through the hair pin bends is an experience itself, you can book a car to enjoy the nature in privacy. There are also buses and taxis from Mirik, Gangtok, Sikkim kalimpong and other parts of the hills that also form major tourist attractions and holiday destinations.


Getting to Darjeeling by Train:


New Jalpaiguri is the nearest rail station to Darjeeling. One can avail direct trains from all the major cities in India like Kolkata, Delhi, Guwahati, Madras, Bombay, Bangalore, Bhubaneshwar, Tirupati, Trivandrum and Cochin to get to New Jalpaiguri. It takes about 3 hours drive from this railhead to be at the beautiful hill station of Darjeeling. Taking a ride in the world famous 'Toy train' that gushes through the winding mountains is something that one can hardly afford to miss.
