The capital was the very first city in India to have the first amusement park, the Appu Ghar in the 19 November 1984. The best rides of the Appu Ghar are Roller Coaster, the Big Splash, Dodgem Cars, the Eerie Tunnel, Giant Wheel and Columbus ride. Children just love the Cable Car and the Speeding Cup. The winter also ushers in the winter sports incorporating the sledding, skiing, and ice boating, where one can row through a river full of icebergs and can even try bowling on the ice.

The water park is famed as the Village Club; it has the privilege of housing the longest water slide in the country with along a 400 feet long water channel known as Lazy River. The park has an aquarium, which you must see, do not give it a miss.

There is also the Delhi Zoo near to the Purana Qila, covering an area of two hundred and forty acres, housing several mammals, reptiles and avian species. It is home to some endangered species in India, come in winter to see the animals out roaming outside, leaving their lair. Leopard, Indian Rhinoceros, Hippopotamus, Black Buck, Indian Gazelle and Lion-tailed macaque, migratory birds all are found in the zoo, make sure you have the time to watch them.
