The Local buses in Delhi are very crowded and the middle-class doesn't prefer to travel in them. Rickshaws and Taxis are usually more favored. The inter-state bus services are more comfortable and you can travel in air-conditioned, ordinary as well as deluxe buses for traveling to major destinations in Delhi. The Interstate Bus Terminus (ISBT) is situated at Kashmir Gate, North of the Old Delhi Railway Station.
The Delhi Transport Corporation boasts of a centralized network of buses that have three hundred routes across Delhi.From any of the terminals at Delhi Gate and Shahdara Terminal and Red Fort, a general All-Route Pass can be availed.

Metro (Public Transport) - New Delhi has a very system of public transport. The most important and popular is the metro. There is a very well connected metro network and it is very convenient to travel in metros. In fact New Delhi had the first metro system.
By taxi: Taxi is the most convenient mode of transport. You can easily move in and around the city in a cab. All the taxis in the city operate on CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) engines abiding by anti-pollution policy of the Delhi Government. Though most taxis operate on a pre-bargained rate, some taxis have electronic meters. It is always better to negotiate the rate before hiring the taxi.
By Auto rickshaws: Rickshaws also form a major part of the transportation of the city. They are available throughout the city. The Auto rickshaws also operate on a pre-bargained rate and it is recommended to negotiate the price beforehand. Four- and Six-seater and four seater motorcycle rickshaws operate on fixed routes at fixed rates and they are mostly available between the the Red Fort and Palika Bazaar at Connaught Place.
