The Dara Shikoh's Library, Delhi is located on the grounds of Indraprastha University Delhi. It is basically the library of the Archeological Department of the Delhi Administration. The library was built by son of Shah Jahan more popularly called by the name of Dara Shikoh.

The place became the British residency where Sir Ochterlony stayed. After the death of dara Sikoh the library was passed to many hands and finally came into the hands of the British in the year 1803.

In the year 1857 the Dara Shikoh's Library, Delhi was completely damaged and all the books were victims of robbery. Sir Ochterlony was successful in preserving the library and the construction of the building was entirely changed. Sir Ochterlony added pillars and a balcony to the library. The original structure of the Mughals is found in the interiors of the library. The structure is of red sandstone mark of Mughal excellence. Sir Ochterlony is famous because he is the only british ruler who completely adopted the style and grandeur of the Mughals.

The Dara Shikoh's Library, Delhi is now the museum for the archeological department. The library is open all days. The preferable time to visit the Dara Shikoh's Library, Delhi is from morning 10am to evening 5pm. There is no fee charged for the entry to the place. Photography is prohibited in the library unless a tourist or a visitor takes prior permission.

The exact location of the Dara Shikoh's Library, Delhi is near the Kashmiri Gate on the Lothian Road. The place is easily accessible from any part of the city. Buses and taxies are easily available. Visitors can take a comfortable ride in the metro and get down at Kashmiri gate stoppage where the library is located. It takes hardly half an hour to have a complete view of this place. The library depicts the rich heritage of the Mughal Empire. The architectural evidences of the British and the Mughals are depicted thus it is a must visit for any person.
