Nehar Wali HaveliDelhi

India - Goa - Bodhgaya - Mysore - Pondicherry - Puri - Shimla - Srinagar - Trivandrum - Agra - Bangalore - Chandigarh - Varanasi - Hyderabad - Jaipur - Kerala - Pune - Udaipur - Darjeeling - Ahmedabad

This particular Haveli has been catapulted to the limelight because it used to be the ancestral home of a certain Mr Pervez Musharraf, who happens to be the defacto dictator of Pakistan. The turbulent relations of the country with India has made sure that the Haveli stays in the limelight as anything to do with the President attracts a lot of media attention.

Therefore the monument has attracted loads of curiosity because the Haveli per se doesn’t have a tourism potential as it isn’t in a good condition. The Haveli is located in the old walled city located at Kucha Saaduullah behind the golcha cinema of Daryaganj. The Haveli was bought by Musharrafs grand father after his retirement and it was in this particular Haveli that the president had spent four years of his child hood. The Haveli has been reduced to a residential and commercial complex with families cramped together for space.

The Musharaf family left for Pakistan during the partition and thus his association with the Haveli ended. Though Musharraf's family’s connection ended with the partition, the house has a legacy which goes far beyond that, as the house was also occupied by the Wazir of the Mughal Emperor. The house is an epitome of Muslim culture as it located in a place that used to be a hub of Muslim culture, traditions and etiquette.

The place is lost it original grandeur one has to go through narrow alleys to access the house now occupied by five families who are jostling for space. However you can still pay a visit to this out of sheer curiosity if not anything else because one of the occupants of the house at one point of time did try some misadventures in the form of kargil War and even to this day has the power to change the destiny of India and Pakistan.
