This Rakhi is not just a thread but is the symbol of love and trust that a sister expresses to her brother. A sister applies a tilak on the forehead of the brother and performs traditional aarti and then ties the Rakhi. With this the sister prays for a good and a long life of her brother. The brother in turn promises for the safety and shower of love to her sister. When the sister ties a Rakhi on the wrist on brother, the brother in turn gifts his sister something.
