Palolem Beach Goa

Palolem beach borders the state Karnataka. It is 70 km away from Panaji and 2 km away from west of Chaudj. It has a crescent shaped bay lined with swaying coconut palms hemmed by a pair of rocky crags. It’ s a beach of white sand facing a blue bay between two headlands. The little wooded islands on the northern headland are interesting. Despite the commercialization, Palolem remains a traditional village, where the easy pace of life is dictated by the three daily rounds of toddy-tapping. The village located nearby has several cafes and souvenir stalls catering to day-trippers and vacationers who arrive in droves on sightseeing tours of the beaches.

Beauty of Palolem Beach

The white sand beach in an arc is picture perfect and beautiful it is not crowded much . There are a few shacks selling seafood snacks, souvenirs, and clothes of the shapeless, bright, informal kind. Palolem beach is one of the most ideal beaches in Goa. The fishermen are more than ready to ferry the tourists to the spot of dolphins .

Places Of Interest

The little wooded islands on the northern headland can be visited if the fishermen are ready to ferry one across. Few shacks have mushroomed which sell seafood, snacks, souvenirs and clothes. However the weekends will be crowded with picnickers, beachcombers and tourists thronging the Palolem beach to enjoy themselves. Besides relaxing on the beach one can also venture into the sea where you will be able to spot the dolphins.

Accommodation is no problem as the tourists have the option of choosing beautiful beach huts and family rooms situated along the shores. Palolem is 3 km away from Canacona Railway Junction on the Konkan Railway. One can also hire taxis and auto-rickshaws to reach Palolem beach from Margao which is 40 km away. There are regular buses from Margao to Palolem that would drop you at Canacona village.
