Goa is known for the festivals that it celebrates. May it be the Hindus or the Christians, the festivals are celebrated in the spirit of one. The festivals of the Hindus’ are somewhat similar to those of the Christians. The feast of the three kings is celebrated in the month of January. To be precise 6th of January was the day. The main theme of the festivity is the church of Our Lady of the Mount One a hill in Quelim, the chapel in which the statue of Madonna is seen holding baby Jesus in her arm. This festival symbolizes faith and security.

A two-way celebration:

This festival is in remembrance of the lady of the mount as she protected and made miracles happen. On the festive day, the Hindu’s and the Catholics so as to say thank you cover the statue with ornaments. The statue as well as the chapel has now become old. The three kings who come to offer their prayers to the infant Jesus are from the neighboring villages of Arrosim, Quelim, and Canslim. The three kings bought in expensive gifts for infant Jesus. The feast of the three kings, Goa is also known as the feast of magi. Even while celebrating the occasion, three men in good robe are made to take horse ride to the temple with the gifts that they have bought from three cities. The priests and the crowds have immense pleasure in taking part in the fest of the three kings, Go whole-heartedly. It is so said that as soon as the function or the feast of the three kings, Goa is over, there is not a single soul who is seen in the vicinity. This chapel is then closed until the next year when they have the next annual feast for the three kings, Goa.
