Goa is land of different religions and castes. With the majority of Hindus and Christians Goa, a wide variety of festivals and events are seen taking place in the State. Some of the major traditional festivals are celebrated in much style and ethnicity. The Shigmotsav, Goa is celebrated like the festival of Holi on the onset. Usually a four day festival, the Shigmotsav, Goa sees a lot of people from the film fraternity and politics making their way to Goa to be a part of their celebrations. This festival mainly revolves around the farmers and Shigmotsav is celebrated at the end of winter also by making way for summer. This festival lies in the month of Phalguna, which is the last month of the Hindu calendar, better known as March by the English calendar. Celebrations in Goa: Shigmotsav, Goa begins when the people from rural areas pray together from the 9th full moon day till the full moon day. The government of Goa supports this festival in the four main cities in Goa. This is mainly down to give stage to the rural strength in the urban cities. The farmers are the major attraction of this festival as they bring out their musical items and have special traditional dance performances. Shigmo or Shigmotsav show a different style of Goa altogether. From the very modern and stylish Goa, to the deep traditional roots of the ethnic rural Goa. The mythological floats take the center stage in this festival. Thousands of people are a part of this festival. The depictions in the floats are that of the killing of an Asura by the Lord Krishna. The carnival has been a part of the Goan festivals for long, but as to the Hindu festivals, Shigmo, is much known. The four major cities of Goa i.e. Panaji Margao, Mapusa and Vasco see the procession throughout. The Shigmo is shortly after the Dhalo festival, which is celebrated by the
