Location of Goa

Goa is considered to be a tourist paradise. Goa is located on the western coast of the Indian peninsula, separated from Maharashtra in the north, Karnataka in the south, the Western Ghats in the east, and the Arabian Sea in the west. Goa is actually squeezed between the seas and the lush forested hills. It has beautiful beach strips fringed with coconut palms and ultra fresh seafood. Geographically, the position of Goa is between the latitudes 15°48'00" North to 14°53'54" North and longitudes 74° 20'13" East to 73° 40'33" East. Goa’s natural boundaries, the Arabian Sea and the Sahyadri mountains, have given Goa a natural beauty. While it’s strategic location on the newly discovered trade route to the East made it even more attractive and enriched the trade relation with the west and the east.

There is wild life tourism, temple and ancient monument tourism and also the famous beach tourism. Goan beaches are known for its gentleness and beauty. Goa has six wildlife sanctuaries Goa possesses excellent flora and fauna making it a destination for the nature lovers. The climate of Goa maintains a moderate temperature, showing negligible variations throughout the year during all the seasons. May is the hottest while January and February are the coldest months , with a prevalence of tropical weather in rest of the year. Southwest monsoon showers arrive in Goa between June and September .

There are many Portuguese forts in Goa. They are mostly situated on the coastal side. They are all worth a visit and well preserved. There are many hotels facing the beach front . They give the tourists a good service at reasonable rates. There are 3-star, 5- star hotels available. However, if one is planning to stay for a longer period , it is advisable to stay as a paying guest with the locals. This is not only a cheaper option but also good option if one is looking for a more homely atmosphere.
