Shri Chandreshwar temple is situated on the top of the hill Chandranath. This temple dates to the pre-Christian era. That was when the region was ruled by the Bhoja Kings. The capital of the Bhoj kings was Chandrapur. Chandrapur is today’s Chandor. The main deity here is Shiva lingam. It is believed to be lit up by moonlight on the full moon night and is said to become mystically bathed in water. Sri Chandreshwar or God of the Moon is so placed so to offer the visitor a wonderful view of the green valley below.

South of Ponda lies the Shri Chandreshwar temple. There are many buses that ply to this pilgrimage spot frequently. During the festival days there is heavy rush . The festivals like Maha Shiva ratri are celebrated with great pomp and show. The view of the green valley below from the hill top is really breathtaking and mesmerising.
