There are certain diplomatic missions, which are sent by the foreign countries
in order to maintain healthy relations with other countries of the World. India
has its consulates in most of the countries. Similarly there are other countries
from outside also who have their Office of the consulates in India. The title
Consul actually refers to the official representatives of the government of
one state and in the territory of another. Having an office of Consul helps
in protecting the interests of the citizen’s of the Consul’s own country. It
also helps in maintaining healthy relationship with other nations. This facilitates
the trade and friendship between different people of various nations. The office
of Consul is termed as Consulate. The main feature of this office of the Consulate
is that it is subordinate to the state’s main representative in that foreign
country. This main representative is known as the Embassy.
Similarly there are Foreign Consulates in Goa also. This facilitates trade
and commerce in the state of Goa between other countries. These offices of Embassies
and Consulates also protect the interest of the various citizens of the Consulates
country. Any issues regarding these citizens are solved in the Embassies and
the Consulates.
Consulates in India As mentioned above, there are some Foreign Consulates in Goa also. These are: -
- Austrian Consulate - This office of Consulate in situated in the
city of Vasco. This consulate deals with the matters regarding the citizens
from Austria.
- Federal Republic of Germany – This Consulate is situated in the city
of Panaji. This consulate deals with the matters regarding with the citizens
of Germany.
- United Kingdom Consular Office – This consulate is located in the
city of Panaji. In this consulate any matters that relate to the citizens of
United Kingdom are dealt with.
- Consulate General of Portugal – This consulate is situated in the
city of Panaji. Any matters that relates to the citizens of Portugal staying
in India is heard and is dealt with in this office.
- Italian Vice Consulate – This consulate is situated in the city of
Panaji. Any matter that relates to the citizens of Italy is dealt in this consulate.
So these were some of the Foreign Consulates in Goa.
