A check on the hygiene and cleanliness while eating in the roadside restaurants should also be done. Mineral water is best while eating in the roadside outlets in Goa. It is also suggested not to roam around barefooted as there are possible chances of acquiring fungal or parasitic infection. Health and safety measures to be taken in Goa: Apart from the above mentioned precautions there are also a few other things to keep in mind about Goa health and safety. Things like not to touch the stray animals particularly the cats, dogs and the goats as there are probable chances of acquiring rabies through their bites. Goa being in tropical zone is very hot and humid and so a plenty of water should be taken to make up for the lost water through sweating. Avoiding ice would also be a wise decision. Goan food is famous and also is extremely spicy and hence there should be a check as too much spice in the hot tropical weather can turn down the stomach. Another big hazard is of the mosquitoes. Even though most of the resorts in Goa are fumigated regularly, to avoid the painful kiss of the nasty Indian mosquitoes it is wise to use repellents. Also anti malarial tablets should be taken along for emergencies especially for the foreign nationals.
