Darjeeling Hill station
There are many places worth visiting in Darjeeling. The Bastasia Loop is an interesting example of engineering. At the Happy Valley Estate here are tea from gardens is processed. Kurseong is a very beautiful place full of natural splendor. The Natural History Museum has about 4300 specimens collected and so is worth visiting. There is a ropeway which has become a great tourist attraction. Rungli Rungliot has one of the most celebrated tea gardens in the Darjeeling hill Station, India. Senchal Lake supplies drinking water and is very beautiful. The Zoological Gardens are also worth visiting.
Shopping
Tea is the main commodity than one can shop at Darjeeling Hill Station, India. Apart from tea there are many shopping malls where you can go shopping. At Chowrasta and Nehru road you can find the shops selling curious and Tibetan carpets, also thangkas, brass statues, religious objects, jewellery, wood carving, woven fabrics, and many other items from Himalayan region. The bronze items and wooden carvings give a great value for your money. The women's cooperative is also a place worth checking out.
Reaching Darjeeling
The Bagdogra airport is 10kms from Siliguri. You can take a fight for reaching Darjeeling. From the airport you can take a taxi or a bus. Darjeeling has railway station but only the toy trains from Jalpaiguri and New Jalpaiguri comes. There are many trains connecting Jalpaiguri and New Jalpaiguri. The place is also well connected by roads. Calcutta runs state buses for Darjeeling and there are private buses too to reach this hill station.
