Hyderabad, the capital city of Andhra Pradesh is located in the Telangana region
of the state. With a large population of about 8.1 million people, Hyderabad is
the 5th largest metropolis of India. The city has a rich history and culture,
which is reflected through its unique architecture representations. The multi-lingual
land, Hyderabad, is a gateway to the southern region of India. Hyderabad is a
land where Hindus and Muslims have abided together since ages, which is reflected
through all the forms of art here, from theatre to cinema and architecture. Today
Hyderabad is one of the most developed cities of India as well as the world. Besides,
housing the most promising IT and Biotechnology sectors of the country within
the cities boundary limits, some of the most famous age old architectural creations
like Charminar are also located in Hyderabad.
Hyderabad is a city full of life and entertainment. From theaters, to movie
halls, musical shows, and art exhibitions, Hyderabad is a culturally potent
city. Theatre was an indispensable part of Hyderabad's culture once upon a time.
But today due to the lack of audience, the popularity of theaters in Hyderabad
has decreased a lot. During the old days, theatre played a significant role
in negotiating social tensions and defining relationships through dramatization
of certain incidents adapted from our surroundings. Theatre was one of the main
modes of enlightening and entertaining people through songs, dances, and dramatically
presented dialogues in those days when cinema was not invented. It was the most
popular mode of entertainment then. Slowly theatre reached its pinnacle as more
and more people started investing in and various theatre troupes were also formed
who traveled all over the state of Andhra Pradesh and performed shows. Some
of the groups had very talented actors and soon they even started training young
people to be a part of the troupes.
