Introduction:

Population and religions in India are highly dependent on each other.

Population of India:

India is one of top countries in the world that is ranked for its population demarcation in the recent years. Every year India contributes to the population increase in the world's population. It contributes more than any other country in this aspect. India is estimated to have a census close to almost 967 million. This count will be easily passed in the recent years. India is estimated to believe with an increase of 70% higher rate of increase in population more than China. The younger population is higher in percentage in this country, which will grow eventually in some years. India occupies almost around 2.4 percent of the world's landmass but is a shelter for a large percentage of population about 16%. The increase in population can be viewed as it almost sums up to the total population of Australia and Sri Lanka per year. The population increase between the years 1950 and 1970 was due to new irrigation projects, refugee resettlement and regions of urban expansion. Even though India contributes largely to the world population, there were certain regions where population did not increase at all due to adverse conditions in that area. Population and religion of India has the highest ratio among any other countries in Asia and all over the world.

Religions in India:

The large span of India of about 1222559 square meters holds a high density of people per sq. m. The overall estimate of the population in India is said to be around 852 people per square meters. And stands 2nd in the population ranking all around the world. Due to such large population and the exploitation by various dynasties since ancient times has influenced the various religions to come up, maybe in different areas of the country or even in the same region. There is hence diversity in the religions in India. There are various other religions that are known though some of them are more prominent. There are various sub-classes in these main religions too which are addressed more than in general. The various religions in India are Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Sikhs, Buddhist, Jains, Other unmodified religions or maybe the internal tribal religions. There are various other internal subdivisions in these religions.
