Consulate and Embassies - The Concept
Consulate is the name of the office of the consul. Consul is usually subordinate to the state's main representative who is an Embassy or the High Commission. This office is generally situated in the capital city of the host nation. Similarly there are certain Foreign Embassies and Consulates in India. These embassies are known as foreign embassies because these are the embassies and consulates of the foreign nations that are situated in India.

There are ten Foreign Embassies and Consulates in India. All the embassies and consulates are situated in New Delhi. They are: -
- Embassy of the Islamic State of Afghanistan - this embassy is situated in Shantipath in Chanakyapuri.
- Embassy of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria - this embassy is situated in the Safdarjung enclave, which is situated in New Delhi.
- Embassy of the Republic of Angola - this embassy is situated in Malcha Marg, which is situated in Chanakyapuri.
- Embassy of the Argentine Republic - this embassy is situated in Vasant Vihar.
- Honorary Consulate of the Republic of America - this consulate is situated in the New Friends Colony.
- High Commission for Australia - this high commission in situated in Shantipath, which is in Chanakyapuri.
- Embassy of Austria - this embassy is situated in the Chandergupta Marg, which is situated in Chanakyapuri.
- High Commission for the People's Republic of Bangladesh - this high commission is situated in the Ring Road of Lajpat Nagar.
- Embassy of the Republic of Belarus - this embassy is situated in Vasant Vihar.
- Royal Embassy of Belgium - this embassy is situated in Shantipath, which is in Chanakyapuri.
