Modern day polo owes its birth to India, as it was Manipur that first conceived the sport and introduced the Western civilization to it in 19th century. An exclusive sport reserved for the royalties, it was made popular by the Mughal emperor Babar.

The Rambagh Polo Ground is a huge historical ground has hosted many important polo tournaments through the years. It stands adjacent to the Rambagh Palace. Built in 1835, the palace has been home to Rajput royalty for two centuries. Famous as the ‘jewel of Jaipur’, the palace was converted into luxury hotel by Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II in 1957.

As against most of Rajasthan’s visiting places, this place has nothing to do with history. In fact it is the only independent polo complex in India. The Ramgarh Resort and Polo Complex is situated amidst the spectacular Aravalli mountains, along the Ramgarh lake, from which it derives its name.
