Kerala is one of the most developed states in India. Democracy and liberalization have occupied the kernel of the state of back waters. It is asserted by many political philosophers that politics determines the economy and security of a region. Kerala is administered by the parliamentary system of representative democracy. There is separation of powers in the wing of the government. The political chronology of Kerala goes back to the days of rise of Travancore as the economic hub of Kerala. In the year of 1743, the export of pepper and flourish of Dutch East Indian Company marked the fertile pastures of politics. Kerala even faced the dire quandary of "devdasi movement" and bhakti cult revolution. Between the 7th and 20th century Kerala experienced the rise of Muslim community and their participation in politics. There were trade union movements in the state of back water too. This particular movement provided the thriving ground for the ideology of Leftism to grow and thereby mature. The leftist philosophies have sipped down to the grass root level of Kerala. The idea of "politics" revolves round V.K. Ramachandran and his career as the political icon of Kerala. He has evolved the social and cultural reform in this particular southern state. He not only made promises to the voters, but also carried on to establish them. Reformation and revisionism has been the central framework of his life. His political career climbed the epitome of success with the radical communist movement in Kerala. The fertile pastures of politics even received the showers of three significant personalities namely - P. Krishna Pillai, A.K. Gopalan and the mass director E.M.S. Namboodiripad. The formulation and political philosophies were initiated from the womb of different "granthashala" or "library". The communist leaders also voiced the "anti- Savarna movement" in the state of Kerala. Local self government aided the political policies to be successful. The educational policies and "Kerala Model' was later followed by every other state. Enhancing the level of production and institutional reform are the primordial in the package of development of Kerala. The concept of "base and structure" reached a truism in this land of Elysian. In the contemporary time, Kerala provides more than 40 % of the country's revenue. V.K. Ramachandran still resides in the heart of every human soul mainly because of his "Total Literary Campaign" which was eye catching for every other political leaders.
