Our Lady of Lourdes Cathedral is the tallest church tower not only in Asia but in the whole of Asia. Our Lady of Lourdes Cathedral is located in the heart of the town of Trissur; in Gods own Country- Kerala. The city of Trissur is situated in the center of state of Kerala, in the southern part of India. It is the headquarters of the Trissur district. It is an important cultural center, and is very often known as the cultural capital of Kerala. It is famous for the most colorful and spectacular festival of Kerala, Trissur Pooram. The town of Trissur has a large number of very well known temples. The Thiruvambady temple, Vadakkumnatha temple and Paramekkavu temple, and two mention worthy churches are the Our Lady of Lourdes Metropolitan Cathedral and the Our Lady of Do lour's "New Church" Basilica. This is the biggest church in South Asia. The Kerala Police Academy, the second largest in India is also situated in this city. Our Lady of Lourdes Metropolitan Cathedral has the largest church tower of Asia. The centenary of Our Lady of Lourdes Metropolitan Cathedral was celebrated during the historic visit of Pope John Paul II to Trissur in 1986. The garland and the bouquet for the Pope were made using Kerala's famous spices. The most attractive feature of Our Lady of Lourdes Metropolitan Cathedral is the well decorated underground chapel. The Bible Tower, a 260 feet high tower, was dedicated to God on the 3rd of December 2006. This particular tower is considered to be the highest church tower in the whole of Asia. Our Lady of Lourdes Metropolitan Cathedral is a very famous church. The exterior of the church exhibits an Indo European style. Tourists admire the Indo European facade with pink spires in the very first glimpse of the church. The statue of Our Lady which adorns the shrine within the church was brought from the Lourdes Cathedral.
