The Thalasseri Fort is square in shape and has massive walls, huge curved doors and secret tunnels to the sea. The Thalasseri Fort is built on a rocky cliff on the Thelichery Beach which used to be one of the British military bases at that time. The British obtained permission from the Raja of Chirakal to build this Fort with the intention of obtaining spice. The Thalasseri fort also has a light house and behind the fort there are colonial buildings, two churches, and a gymnastics school.
Near the Thalasseri Fort is the Brennen cemetery named after Sir Edward Brennen, who was buried here along with other East India Company officials. Other major attractions are the St. Rosario Church and the sub-collector's bungalow.
Thalasseri is situated along the Malabar Coast. However, the beach is not an idle place for sun bathing and swimming in the sea as you will find fishermen's huts, fishermen's boats and "public toilets" all along the beach. You can even watch the fishermen sailing on the sea from the Thalasseri Fort.
