Royal Calcutta Golf Club, Kolkata or (RCGC') as it is popularly known in local parlance was established in 1829 and is the second oldest golf club in the world after The Royal and Ancient at St. Andrews. In India, Royal Calcutta Golf Club, Kolkata was the first ever golf course in the country and the first outside Great Britain.
Royal Calcutta Golf Club was affectionately known as the "Royal" to be synonymous with the game of golf in this country.
