Royal Calcutta Golf Club was affectionately known as the "Royal" to be synonymous with the game of golf in this country. The title of "Royal” was conferred upon the course by King George V and Queen Mary to commemorate their visit to Calcutta in 1911. Looking at the history of the Royal truly, one can truly trace the evolution of the game of golf in Kolkata.
