Since 1975, Govt. of India recognized Kolkata Giridoot (Mountaineering Club), an NGO, which is an active organization in the field of adventurous activities and social works. As one of the leading Indian organizations of its kind, this club has always kept its commitment in the value, attitudes, which are the essential part of the Indian tradition. The basic aim of this club is to maintain the Indian tradition and preserve the Indian heritage. The Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt. of India donated a large amount of money to the growth and development of Kolkata Giridoot (Mountaineering Club) as an Institution.
