This is the LEXPO Kolkata, the leather fair of the city where one gets to shop for their favorite leather product. LEXPO Kolkata has been organized in the city from 1977 in order to promote the leather products and provide a better marketing infrastructure for the products as well.

LEXPO Kolkata is been organized by ILTA from its initial years. Kolkata Maidan was the chosen venue for the fair since its inception but presently it has been shifted to a different venue as the organization of any sort of public fair is banned in Maidan. The platform enables the manufacturers to keep pace with the latest in design and technique of the leather products in the country. It also provides an opportunity for the manufacturers to interact with the locals customers.

The fair was originally organized in the best of the hotels of the city prior to the year 1982 when it got finally shifted to Maidan. At the time of its inception LEXPO was organized as a Buyer-Sellers Meet of the materials which are of the export quality. The fair has completed a successful journey and in the year 2001 it celebrated its Silver Jubilee.

The LEXPO is the ideal base for the small scale sector industries, tiny and cottage industries to display their products to a bigger market. Apart from organizing LEXPO for the past 28 years in Kolkata the organizers have surged ahead and have opted for another venue as Bhubaneshwar for 3 years and in Siliguri for 10 years.

LEXPO Kolkata has earned quite fame for itself in the past years and presently it houses to over 200 stalls. The fair is visited by a mammoth population of over 5 lakhs people in the last 15 days.

The fair is usually held in the months of December to January.
